Wichita offers a remarkable variety of facilities for treatment, both emergency and long term. State-of-the-art medical facilities and talented health practitioners attract patients from all over Kansas.
Wichita has over 24,000 healthcare professionals and 900 practitioners providing services in the city and surrounding areas, making the healthcare industry the area’s second largest employment sector. As a result, the Wichita area is a regional medical hub offering expertise in all areas of medicine to a patient catchment area of about 1 million people.
Two major medical centers, a veterans’ hospital and numerous specialty hospitals and clinics offer more than 2,272 hospital beds and employ more than 24,000 health care professionals. The two major medical centers include Wesley Medical Center and Via Christi Regional Medical Center (comprised of St. Francis and St. Joseph campuses), both of which are Level I Trauma Centers and have over 1700 hospital beds between them.
